Agendas and Minutes

Course Description 

Agendas and minutes are vital in council business. The agenda forms the summons to the meeting as well as listing the items of business to be transacted and the minutes are a legal document recording the councils decisions. 


This is an interactive course   and offers the opportunity to network with Clerks from Councils across Northamptonshire to share best practice and ideas. 

Key areas covered in this course include:

  • Preparation of the agenda, what should and should not be included?
  • Publication of the agenda; when and how?
  • Minuting meetings: what should and shouldn't be included in the minutes; 

 

  • The importance of accurate note taking;
  • Signing of the minutes;
  • Publication of the minutes,
  • When and how;
  • The policy for preserving Parish/Town Council minutes.


Who Should Attend
Suitable for: Clerks, Deputy Clerks and administrative staff wishing to learn about or brush up their knowledge of Parish/Town Council agendas and minutes.

Marie Reilly 

Training Manager, Northants CALC

Marie joined the Association in 2019. Prior to that, she has worked in Learning and Development since 2014. Marie has been a parish councillor since 2018 and has had various roles on committees and working parties as well as Vice Chair to the council. She achieved Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) in 2020 and is a recognised CiLCA Trainer to the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC).
